Summary: Prego collects only what is needed to provide the app experience. We do not sell your personal data. Food photos are analyzed in real time and are not stored on our servers.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Email address (when you sign up with email, Apple, or Google)
- User ID (generated automatically for your account)
Pregnancy & Health Information
- Due date and pregnancy week
- Health tracking data you choose to enter (mood, weight, blood pressure, glucose, kick counts, contractions)
- Baby information after birth (name, birth date)
App Usage
- Food scan history (stored locally on your device)
- Saved recipes and favorites (stored locally on your device)
Photos
- Food photos you take are sent to our analysis service for real-time processing only. They are not stored on our servers after the analysis is complete.
2. How We Use Your Information
- App functionality: To provide food safety analysis, pregnancy tracking, recipes, and personalized features
- Partner sharing: If you invite a partner, your pregnancy week and shopping list are shared with their account
- Notifications: To send vitamin reminders and weekly pregnancy updates you have opted into
- Advertising: To display relevant ads that keep the app free (see Section 4)
3. Where Your Data Is Stored
- On your device: Scan history, saved recipes, favorites, health tracking entries, and app preferences are stored locally using on-device storage. This data does not leave your device unless you use the partner sharing feature.
- Supabase (cloud): Your account credentials (email, user ID) and partner sharing data are stored securely on Supabase servers.
4. Third-Party Services
Prego uses the following third-party services:
Google AdMob
- Purpose: Displaying ads to keep the app free
- Data collected: Device advertising identifier (IDFA), ad interaction data
- You will be asked for permission before any tracking occurs (App Tracking Transparency)
- Privacy policy: Google Privacy Policy
Supabase
- Purpose: User authentication and partner data syncing
- Data collected: Email, user ID, partner sharing snapshots

OpenAI
- Purpose: AI-powered food safety analysis and recipe generation
- Data collected: Food photos and text queries are sent for real-time analysis only and are not stored

5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Data is only shared with the third-party services listed above to provide app functionality, and with your partner if you choose to use the partner sharing feature.
6. Data Retention
- Local data: Stored on your device until you clear it in Settings or delete the app
- Account data: Retained while your account is active. You can delete your account by contacting us.
- Food photos: Processed in real time and immediately discarded. Not stored on any server.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data (most of it is visible directly in the app)
- Export your data (kick counts, weight, and mood data can be exported as CSV from Settings)
- Delete your scan history and saved recipes from Settings
- Opt out of ad tracking by denying the App Tracking Transparency prompt or changing it in your device Settings
- Delete your account by contacting us at the email below
8. Children's Privacy
Prego is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Medical Disclaimer
Prego is designed to provide general information about food safety during pregnancy. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult your doctor, midwife, or qualified healthcare provider with any questions about your dietary needs during pregnancy. The AI analysis may not always be accurate and should be used as a starting point for discussion with your healthcare provider.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
